If it’s your first time, here’s what you really need to know to enjoy it to the fullest.

Heads up: this isn’t your average tomato fight.

Here are the top tips to make sure you have a blast—from start to finish.

1. Wear clothes you’ll never see again.

Seriously. Whatever you wear will not be able to survive.

Bring old, comfy clothes you won’t mind throwing away afterwards.

2. Closed-toe shoes. Always.

Flip-flops, sandals, Crocs… are a no-no.

You need closed shoes that are comfy and have good grip.

3. Goggles or swim glasses

Tomato juice in your eyes stings more than you’d expect.

Swim goggles are your best friend.

4. Don’t bring anything you can’t lose

No phone,
wallet, AirPods, DSLR…

If you must bring something, use the lockers.

5. Squash before you throw

Golden rule: squish the tomato before throwing it!

6. Hydration is key—before and after

It’s hot and packed.

Drink water before and after the battle.

7. Post-Tomatina cleanup

Buñol Town Halls ets up outdoor showers.

But for a truly authentic experience—head to the river.

8. Get there early

The streets fill up fast.

If you show up late, you’ll be watching from the sidelines.

Ready for your first big red battle?

See you in Buñol.
